CDE Open House (2022)
Forging New Frontiers
The College of Design and Engineering welcomed its first hybrid event since COVID-19, marking its efforts to show prospective students the new college and common curriculum since the merger in 2021. With much buzz and excitement around this event, the Hub broke down the theme of 'Forging New Frontiers' to develop an identifier for outreach efforts. The mark has been used consistently for future events.
01
CDE Open House Identifier
Geometrical forms assemble the building blocks of CDE, making the mark grounded and impactful. It is conceptually based on the idea of pillars, highlighting the school’s strong and supportive foundation. The boldly emphasised visual weight is a statement of our presence and dynamic nature.
02
Planning & Promotional Material
The Hub was also responsible for planning the spatial layouts and the print materials used for the entire event, including banners, booths and panels that are still being used today. We also designed the programme booklets and edited promotional videos to be posted on social media and screened at the event.
03
Exhibitions
The new CDE Open Day identity is a comprehensive study of the faculty’s refreshed image and admissions objectives. We believe it will set the context for the college’s transformative efforts in forging new frontiers between disciplines, staff, and students.
04
Merchandise
The Hub also designed a set of merchandise including tote bags, ez-link cards and other goodies. The standard CDE polo uniform used for official events also sports the refreshed identity mark.
05
Programme Identifiers
Designing for 14 different programmes is not easy — much less keeping all materials visually consistent. The Hub considered the massive scale of this endeavour, and constructed a visual vocabulary to better identify each of the college's unique programmes through unique marks that represent the core of each course.
